Historical Society features works of early 20th century artists
Through July 15, "Four Wilton Artists, Remembered," an exhibition of the work of four major New York and Paris trained artists who lived in Wilton in the early decades of the 20th century, will be featured in a comprehensive exhibit at the Wilton Heritage Museum, located at 224 Danbury Road in Wilton. The exhibit hours are: Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Sculptors Solon H. Borglum (1868 1922) and A. Phimister Proctor (1860 1950) will be represented by major pieces on loan from museums and family members. The exhibit includes 30 bronze sculptures by Borglum and Proctor, and approximately 90 paintings and watercolors by painters Henry G. Thomson (1850 1937) and Carl Schmitt (1889 1989). The works of Thomson and Schmitt encompass impressionistic landscapes, portraits and still-lifes. There are also pieces on display by Gertrude and Peter Schmitt, children of Carl Schmit and Gifford Proctor, the youngest son of Phimister Proctor. Georgetown Gallop
5K approaches
The third annual Georgetown Gallop 5K Road Race will take place on Sunday, June 8. The race, which is sponsored by Georgetown Saloon and Georgetown Land Development, begins at 10:30 a.m., with check-in starting at 9:30 a.m. outside the Village Chef. Taste of Wilton scheduled
for June 24
The first Taste of Wilton will take place on Tuesday, June 24 at Mohawk Kitchens, 23 Danbury Road, Wilton. The event, which runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., costs $25 per person. Attendees can enjoy local restaurant favorites from Dina's! A Restaurant; Outback Steakhouse; Tom E Toes Restaurant; and Marianne Wilson's Complete Catering; along with wine selections from Elmer's Fine Wines. Reservations required by June 17.
