WILTON The Wilton Ancient Warriors traveled to the Pontelandolfo Club in Waterbury on Sunday for their third match, and first on the road, this season.
As they had in previous games, however, the Ancient Warriors came away with another victory, this time by a 5-0 score.
Five minutes into the match, Andrew Allers collected an errant goal-kick and scored to give his team a quick lead.
Wilton dominated possession throughout the rest of the half, having two additional goals ruled out for offside, and the half ended 1-0.
Ten minutes into the second half, defender Andrew Copley got forward on a counter-attack and coolly slotted home Wilton's second.
From there, with defensive protection from Herbert van Wyngaarden and Hossein Sadeghi, Wilton's attack found their stride and saw Piotr Bierezowiec released on the right for another goal.
This was quickly followed by another from Allers, and then Romuald Szostek scored another, rounding out the Warriors 5-0 win.
Goalkeeper Andrea Galimi recorded another clean sheet as the team has only conceded one goal this season.
Back on Sunday, April 27, the Ancient Warriors faced off against North Branford SC and cruised to an easy 8-1 win.
From the start, Slawomir Przybysz made some dizzying runs, scoring one and assisting Brian Slater for another to help the Warriors grab two quick goals within the first 10 minutes. Two more scores were added, a second from Brian Slater, and one from Nick Slater to end the half at 4-0, the Warr-iors having dominated possession throughout.
At the re-start, Wilton got caught on the back foot and were qui-ckly scored on, ending Goalkeeper Andrea Galimi's 315 minute streak without conceding a goal, (including pre-season friendly matches against the 2007 Division 1 and Div. 2 champions).
On this wake-up call, captain William O'Herron and Andrew Copley rallied the midfield and a succession of two goals apiece from Romuald Szostek and Andrew Allers rounded it out with the match ending 8-1 to Wilton.
